Presenting this month's lineup for The Midwest Independent Film Festival…
FESTIVAL PREMIERE: DIRTY WORK
2004, Bruce Terris, USA, 97 min.
With Lance Reddick, Michael McGlone, Nutsa Kukhianidze, Austin Pendleton
Barbara Scharres writes, “A compromised cop, an ambitious politician with an ego bigger than the Daley Center, a hotel maid without a green card, and a crime boss with a sadistic sense of humor are the ingredients for dark and thrilling made-in-Chicago drama. A dazzling cast leads the way through a sordid tale of corruption in high places and betrayal in the shadows, from the bowels of the South Side to the heart of the Gold Coast, and director Terris hits all the marks in blending grit and glitz. Notable performances include Reddick as the hardened, clenched-up cop, and Pendleton as the maniacally convivial mob entrepreneur. The cast also includes Michael McGlone and Mike Nussbaum.”
OPENING FILM: ESTES AVENUE. Written and directed by Chicago filmmaker Paul Cotter (Jeff Farnsworth). Estes Avenue received its world premiere at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.
NEXT MONTH! On Tuesday, May 2nd, we will be presenting the Chicago Premiere of The Man Who Invented the Moon, written and directed by Chicago native, Joseph Jefferson Award-winning actor and Gilmore Girls regular John Cabrera. Mr. Cabrera will be in attendance. See you at the Landmark!
