Chicago, IL - The Midwest Independent Film Festival is honored to present a special advance screening of Grace is Gone, starring John Cusack, on Tuesday, December 4th.  The screening will be preceded by the presentation of the festival’s Best of the Midwest Awards.  These awards recognize the premier films and filmmakers featured during this year's Midwest Independent Film Festival, which holds its screenings every first Tuesday of the month at Landmark Century Centre Cinema.

AP’s David Germain proclaims “Director James Strouse has created a tale both timely and timeless” while Lou Lumenick of the New York Post raves “John Cusack is brilliant… one of Hollywood’s most underrated actors might finally get an Oscar nomination for Grace Is Gone.” Grace Is Gone received its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it received the awards for Best Screenplay as well as the coveted Audience Award.

 

Feature Film: Grace Is Gone is a film starring John Cusack as a father who does not want to tell his two daughters that their sergeant mother has died in Iraq.  Desperate to delay telling the children they embark on a spontaneous road trip.  The farther they drive the closer they become yet Stanley knows he must face the inevitable task of changing their lives forever.

 

Screening Information: The Tuesday, December 4th festivities begin with a Pre-Show Cocktail Reception (sponsored by Diageo) at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema (2828 North Clark) at 6 p.m.  The Best of the Midwest Awards ceremony begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by a screening of Grace Is Gone, starring John Cusack, written and directed by Goshen, IN native James C. Strouse.  A post-screening reception will be held immediately following the film at Cousin's (2833 North Broadway).
