2007 Festival Launch: Feb 6th Steppenwolf’s Kubuku, Premieres Lead Lineup
Steppenwolf Films’s powerful short, Kubuku Rides (This Is It), and premiere screenings of The 5:22, My Lover’s Moods, and Aisle 7 lead an impressive Midwest Shorts Program as the Midwest Independent Film Festival (www.midwestfilm.com) presents their first installment of the 2007 season on Tuesday, February 6th at 6:00 p.m. at Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema. The lineup will also include Jason Sandri’s surrealistic stop-motion animated short, Cranium Theater, an Official Selection of the 2007 Slamdance Film Festival. All filmmakers will be in attendance to present their work and field questions from the audience.

Based on Larry Brown’s haunting short story, Kubuku Rides (This Is It) affords the audience an unblinking view of a household steeped in secrets and desperation. We experience Angel’s intense addiction from a harrowing insider’s view — through the eyes of her 8-year old son. Angel's husband Alan tries to hold his family together, but one terrible day will test their love and change everything between them. 25 minutes
