Presenting this month's lineup for The Midwest Independent Film Festival…
DIVORCE LEMONADE. From reelchicago.com: "Justin Hayward’s bleak comedy Divorce Lemonade was one of 73 shorts chosen from 4,327 entries to screen at Sundance. Divorce Lemonade depicts a 13-year-old girl (Ashleigh Kennington) covering for her estranged father’s drunken bender amidst a wasteland of prefab suburban construction. A St. Louis native and Southern Illinois University alum, Hayward premiered Divorce Lemonade at the Chicago International Film Festival, where he picked up a Silver Plaque."
TIME TRAVELER. This outstanding 7-minute animated short chronicles the adventures (and misadventures) of an intrepid time traveler, trying to save the world from ruin. Directed by George Eckart. Time Traveler was voted Best of Fest at the 2005 Chicago Short Comedy Video and Film Festival.
HOMESICK BLUES. Prelude to the forthcoming feature film, Homesick Blues stars Japanese pop singer Zoey as Hiroko, an 18-year-old Osaka girl hell-bent on becoming a blues singer. Winner, best film, IFP/Chicago Flyover Zone Film Festival. Please visit http://www.homesickblues.com for more information.
EVERY THIRTY SECONDS. Chicago Premiere! Every thirty seconds a man is hit by a drunk driver… this is that man. Written and directed by Jeremy Corray, Every :30 is a tour de force of impacts and insanity that chronicles the journey of one man who can't run fast enough...from his destiny.
PROPOSAL PANDEMONIUM. World Premiere! Silent slapstick comedy featuring the Tramp, the Great Stoneface, Mary Pickford, Fatty Arbuckle, a Keystone Cop and a pair of thugs. A botched proposal, a chase, and a happy ending. Featuring strong performances from established Chicago theatre actors, nostalgic cinematography by Eric Wheeler and a great musical score from talented local composers David Levy and Vijay Tellis-Nayak.
THE PROCESS. A highly charged look into the darker forces which compel techno artist Felix Milik (TransAlarm) to create his art. Directed by John Weaver.
NEXT MONTH! On Tuesday, April 4th, The Midwest Independent Film Festival is proud to present the Festival Premiere of Dirty Work, written and directed by Bruce Terris. Terris and producer Christina Varotsis to attend.
