Three
outstanding works of independent cinema – Michael Keaton’s directorial debut The Merry
Gentleman, the
female filmmaking tour-de-force Hannah Free and Lori Petty’s heartwrenching
drama The Poker House - lead all nominees for The 2009 Best of the Midwest Awards, hosted by The
Midwest Independent Film Festival. This year’s “BMAs” will
also serve as the festival’s sole fundraiser and will be hosted by the
award-winning Rockit Bar & Grill, 22 West Hubbard. Acclaimed filmmakers Lori Petty,
John McNaughton and Steve Jones highlight the list of scheduled attendees! See who else will be there on the 1st and check out last year's photo gallery!
Say hello to all of this year's BMA sponsors! While you're at it, be sure to thank this year's BMA Gala Host Committee. If you would like to join our family of festival sponsors, here's our sponsorship packet and here's the best way to contact Festival Director Mike McNamara!
These awards recognize the premier films and filmmakers featured during
this year's festival, which holds its screenings every first Tuesday of the
month. Best of the
Midwest Award (BMA) winners are chosen via online balloting from both the
public and the festival’s awards jury. Online voting continued through November 20th here at www.midwestfilm.org. Be sure to watch the beautiful nominee presentation created by K.C. and Kipp Norman of Elephant Filmworks.
