Chicago, IL - The Midwest Independent Film Festival is honored to present the Midwest Premiere of the award-winning documentary INDESTRUCTIBLE on Tuesday, October 2nd.  Named Best Documentary at this year’s Cinequest Film Festival and fresh from the Montreal Film Festival, this autobiographical tour-de-force marks the debut for Chicago filmmaker and ALS patient Ben Byer. Byer, producer Rebeccah Rush and editor Tim Baron will all be in attendance for this premiere.

Variety calls INDESTRUCTIBLE “an intimate, lacerating, absorbing visual diary of the three-year onset of terminal disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in aspiring filmmaker Ben Byer, INDESTRUCTIBLE is an immersive, edifying journey of acceptance, setback and strength.”

When 31 year-old Ben Byer is diagnosed with ALS, a fatal neurodegenerative disease, he begins documenting his life on camera. What begins as a series of video diaries grows into a three-year journey that takes him around the world looking for answers, and maybe even a cure.  A cinematic adventure filled with extraordinary characters, breathtaking landscapes and abundant humor, Indestructible is beautifully shot by Academy Award™ nominee Roko Belic (Genghis Blues).  In his first feature film, Byer takes us on a visually stunning global quest to survive as he begins to understand the power of the human condition.

Screening Information: The Tuesday, October 2nd screening begins with a Pre-Show Cocktail Reception at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema (2828 North Clark) at 6 p.m. The reception is presented by Diageo, the world's leading premium drinks company; sponsoring brands include GUINNESS, Crown Royal and Captain Morgan.  Byer, producer Rebeccah Rush and editor Tim Baron will be in attendance as INDESTRUCTIBLE begins promptly at 7:30 p.m.  Projection services are provided by sponsors Resolution Digital Studios, Mimi Productions, Fletcher and Zacuto.  A post-screening reception will be held immediately following the film at Cousin's (2833 North Broadway).
