First Tuesdays: An Acceptable Loss
The Midwest Independent Film Festival is proud to open the 2019 festival season with political thriller AN ACCEPTABLE LOSS, written and directed by Joe Chappelle, produced by Colleen Griffen, and starring Tika Sumpter, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ben Tavassoli.
The special night which kicks off the 2019 season will begin with our signature Producers Panel on which Colleen Griffen will share her expertise about working with distributors, independent financing, and making your film happen in an audience Q&A.
Following the screening, we'll hold a Q&A with writer/director Joe Chappelle to discuss the film.
In the film, Libby Lamm (Sumpter) is a former White House security aid to US Vice President-turned-President, Rachel Burke (Curtis). After leaving p olitics for academia, Lamm can't escape her earlier actions, nor their impact.
The evening will open at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception on the top floor of the Landmark Century Cinema space (2828 N. Clark St.) for networking with other festival attendees, sponsors as well as Board and Advisory Council Members. An afterparty will follow at the conclusion of the evening (about 9 p.m.), at Avenue Tavern (2916 N. Broadway Ave.).
