First Tuesdays: All Creatures Here Below
The Midwest Independent Film Festival is proud to present ALL CREATURES HERE BELOW, directed by Collin Schiffli, for our September #FirstTuesdays screening event.
The film is the story of Gensan (David Dastmalchian) and Ruby (Karen Gillan), who live on the fringes of society in Los Angeles, struggling to survive in the face of abject poverty. On a fateful night, they strike out to seize something that has always been denied them, which sets in motion a series of events with dire consequences. Their impulsively committed crime puts them on run from the police. They seek refuge in their hometown of Kansas City, a place filled with the dark secrets that have haunted them since they fled years ago.
Collin Schiffli's feature directorial debut, ANIMALS, won a grand jury award at the 2014 SXSW Film Festival and was distributed by Oscilloscope Laboratories and Showtime in 2015. ALL CREATURES HERE BELOW is Schiffli's follow up feature drama. He currently is in production on his next film, DIE IN A GUNFIGHT, which will be released in 2020.
The evening will open at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception on the top floor of the Landmark Century Cinema space (2828 N. Clark St.), followed by our signature Producers Panel at 6:30. A Q&A session with the filmmakers will immediately follow the 7:30 p.m. film screening, followed by an afterparty.
